Sobre este artículo

Malibu, California: Malibu Lagoon Museum, 2000. First Edition, Stated. Softcover. Very good. Rindge, Sue. 94p. Signed by authors on title page. Judge Merrick of the Malibu Municipal Court and Rindge, a descendent of one of the founding families of Malibu and one of the founders of the Malibu Historical Society, provide a history of Point Dume reflected through seafaring along the coast. They begin with the indigenous Chumash inhabitants, continuing with the observations of the 19th-century ships passing the point. The reason there is no lighthouse at Pt. Dume as there are on the southern points of Pt. Vicente and Pt. Fermin and the reasoning behind replacing the "whistle" buoy with a "bell" buoy are explained. Also discussed is the smuggling of liquor and drugs into Malibu, along with the shipwrecks of schooners and purse seiners at the point and a chronicle of the achievement of designating Pt. Dume as a California Historical Landmark. Includes bibliography. B&w illustrations by Sue Rindge and b&w and color photographs. (11"x8-1/2")
