Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1908 Full cloth with gilt titles & decoration. (the discoloration on front cover appears to be coffee-cup rings. Corners with touch of wear, spine extremities severely chipped.). Top edge gilt with the other edges slightly dusty. 123pp - these slieek and of heavier bond almost immaculate with black & white and color illustrations throughout by one of America's finest illustrators. ("Life" "Leslie's Weekly"). The bookplate,is of Aldrich. The presentation inscription "Steve - A rememberance of you while visiting the home of ___________" appears to be that of the artist, - but signed simply "John". dated 1912. - This is the first edition of the first seperate republication of this story in book form. A tight, nice copy with principle flaw the chipped spine extremities but interior remains flawless. With all flaws: Good
