A signed, first edition in the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Signed by the author to the title page, reading 'I hope you enjoy this! Philip Reed, May 12th 2001'. Dated the year of first publication. Philip Reed began his writing career as a police reporter for the City News Bureau in Chicago. Reed then moved into directing plays and also wrote for a number of hit television shows, including 'Miami Vice'. He has since written a number of crime fiction novels, including his debut novel, 'Bird Dog', which was nominated for the Edgar and Anthony awards. 'The Marquis de Fraud' tells the story of San Franciscan horse trainer, Cliff Dante, who sinks all his money into a winning race horse, along with two investors. However, things with one of the investors become troublesome, with the horse suddenly going missing, leaving Dante to track it down across the British Isles.Reed used the expertise of Jeff Bonde for his research, who has trained thoroughbred champions from all over the world. The novel is dedicated to horse trainers everywhere. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely, with minor bumping to the extremities. Dust wrapper in excellent condition, with very minor shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Author's ink inscription to title page. Fine
