The new air force certainly comes in handy when the nefarious neighboring state of Khaliwar decides to attack. But they haven't counted on Jhamjarh's secret weapon - the unorthodox methods and outrageous behavior of Bartholomew Bandy. Despite these distractions, the mystical visions of India have their effect on Bandy, leaving him a changed man. The underlying element of anger which has always been a part of his humor is finally resolved - which makes for a very satisfactory ending to the story of Bartholomew Bandy.
