London: Thomas Nelson, 1850. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 1st ed. 12mo. Publisher's light tan cloth with gilt titles on cover and spine, blind stamped cloth. Frontis, engraved title, xii, 404 pp, publisher's catalog, 24 tissue guarded plates with blue background and white and blue illustration, other illustrations in text. Very Good, very tight, spine very slightly sunned, text leaves clean and Fine, the white border of most of the plates have a little foxing. With the neat ownership signature in several places of William Hann, of Hetton. Mr. Hann was an engineer who was granted a patent for improving the propelling of vessels. The plates reflect the author's interpretation of seeing the heavens and planets through a telescope. A pleasing copy.
