Internally a portion of the front endpaper has been removed (presumably to remove a name/address)and there is a strip of age darkening to endpapers else a clean, tight and unmarked copy. Dustjacket has chipping and is price clipped. 256 pages. This is not a medical history in the conventional sense, although it covers the whole sweep of medicine, in time and distance, from Dawn Man to radio-isotopes and from China to Peru. It is factual and scientifically instructive, recounting the romance of discovery with the latest advances, but still conveys the social purpose which has taken the author from the Equator to the North Pole. 13 .
