The first part (pp. 5-52) provides a very detailed account of how merino sheep are raised in Spain, with additional chapters on shearing and washing merino wool. The author then compares the efforts made in other European countries to raise merino sheep (pp. 53-71). He concludes with an account of how merino sheep were first introduced into the Crimea in 1803 and offers specific proposals for ensuring that the flocks grow and thrive, thus vastly improving the quality of wool available in Russia and the Ukraine (pp. 71-88). *** NUC: MB.
