Early 19th-century? half calf with marbled paper over boards. Paper spine label with handwritten title: Memoirs of Charles Lee. Small printed paper label at tail of spine with "219." Orange bookplate on front fixed endpaper identifying this as Property of the Mechanics' Library Association, Lancaster, Pa. (stamped "withdrawn"). This label is over a partially removed pink bookplate. Faint blue oval stamp on title page reading "Mechanics Society, Lancaster, Pa." The Mechanics' Library Association of Lancaster was founded in 1829 as the Mechanics' Society. Early American Imprints, ser. 1 (Evans), 25701. Howes, L-83. Memoirs of Major General Lee signed (p. 47): Edward Langworthy, Baltimore, March 10th, 1787. In Very Good- Condition: edges are lightly rubbed; head of spine more heavily rubbed; finger soiling along edges of pages; occasional foxing; otherwise, clean and tight.
