Quarter leather and marbled paper-covered boards. vii, 499 pp. Two short tears at head of spine, some leather scuffing, paper-covered boards rubbed, long notation in ink by previous owner Jonathan Holden (later changed his name to Holdeen), Good Plus. Jonathan Holdeen (1881-1967), who resided in Pine Plains and had an office in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was the eccentric, penny-pinching, millionaire lawyer who set up 2.8 million dollars in trusts to make Pennsylvania a tax-free state (an idea inspired by Benjamin Franklin).
