Exterior is in rough condition with numerous tears, chips, scuffs and stains to the leather and both front and rear boards show exterior hinge cracks to the point of being precariously held on by just the binder string. The internal binding of the text pages is in much better shape and text pages are tight. The book is complete but foxing is present throughout with some pages being severe and other pages being quite darkened due to different types of paper used in the printing process. The end pages and both front and rear show creases and chipping but the text pages are not affected. There is no publication date, however there is a pencil note at the top of the title page 1887 given as the year of publication. Spine section is darkened with age, and there is some grumbling and tearing of the cloth at the top left of the spine and rubbing of the cloth at the bottom of the spine, all edges Gilded. Decorated endpapers, with offset tanning, previous owner's details on the verso of the frontispiece portrait, as can be seen in the attached image the tissue guard and title page are quite foxed.
