Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact, but spine is faded/sunned. Slight foxing front/rear pages, but body of book mostly clean and unfoxed. Previous owner's signature in ink. Edges foxed and browned. Covers are grubby in spots but otherwise in sound condition. Ink stamp of " Georg Garbe Chronometermacher" on first few pages. He was a noted author on watchmaking. Portrait of the author; eight color plates and 164 b/w illustrations. [viii, 180, 8 (tafel) ]Rear internal hinge has paper tear with cover firmly attached. Corners lightly rubbed. Old Watches & Clocks, German text. ; Color & B/W Illus.; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 180 pages .

The study of Roman Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset which earned Musgrave a diamond ring from George I in appreciation. In good internal order, with some toning, spotting and corner creases, but generally bright. Fold-out engraved map, and 14 further fold-out engravings, some particularly striking, most bright, strong images. Discreet repair to final plate. Boards are present but detached along with first two blanks. Spine in situ. Bookplate of Glasgow Archaeological Society to front pastedown.
