Sobre este artículo
[San Francisco]: [Robert Grabhorn & Andrew Hoyem for the Roxburghe Club of San Francisco, 1969], 1969. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Near fine. One of 150 copies, elephant folio size, 22 pp. A tribute to the incomparable Edwin Grabhorn, who, with his brother Robert, created some of the loveliest of American private press books during the first half of the twentieth century.
This tribute was printed for the Roxburghe Club of San Francisco, and the essay by David Magee focuses on the contribution to the Club by the Grabhorns, as well as sharing something of the spirit of the man. "Ed was a modest man. He once described himself to an interviewer as 'just another job printer trying to get by'. Even when the American Institute of Graphic Arts invited him to New York to receive its gold medal, he declined" (from David Magee's essay).
Embellished with two tipped-in black and white photographic images (by Marjorie Farquhar) of Edwin Grabhorn at the Press, and eight tipped-in original leaves from various books printed at the Grabhorn Press.
___DESCRIPTION: Quarter green linen cloth with tan laid paper boards, paper spine label with brown lettering, decorative flourish at the beginning of the essay, photographs and leaves tipped in as indicated above, two-page list of important dates in the life of Edwin Grabhorn; elephant folio size (16" by 11.5"), 22 unnumbered pages, one of 150 copies, unnumbered.
___CONDITION: Near fine, with a strong text block, solid hinges, the boards clean other than a minute speck or two, and entirely free of prior owner markings; a few hints of glue residue to the green cloth, the top front corner bumped and slightly rubbed and the top rear corner slightly bumped but unrubbed; even with its few faults still a near fine copy.
___CITATION: Grabhorn-Hoyem Bibliography, no. 22.
___POSTAGE: Please note that due to the large size of this volume additional postage may apply; we are happy to ship to both domestic and international addresses at cost, please contact us for details.
___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell. Please contact us with any questions you may have, we are here to help.
