Original purple cloth boards with blind stamped designs on the covers and gilt lettering on the spine. The publication is the sixth edition of the acclaimed poem by Tennyson. The poem serves as a memorial tribute to the deceased poet Arthur Henry Hallam, a close friend of Tennyson, and is written in iambic tetrameter. Publisher's ads dated "March 1855". Binding with some sunning to the spine and to the edges of the covers. Corners bumped and hinges of spine lightly rubbed. Covers with some smudges and rubbing. Interior with period bookseller's sticker at the top left corner of the interior front cover. Starting at p.64. Sporadic light pencil markings, as well as minor foxing and smudges throughout. Binding in good, interior in very good condition overall.
