Descripción:
Edward Everett Hale, related to Nathan Hale and Lucretia Hale among others, wrote this two volume retrospective of the 19th century in the United States, and published it near the end of his life. His personal memories include familiarity with the generation of the American Revolution and then make their way through the great inventions and wars of his lifetime. Senior to Henry Adams, Hale's perspective is a lighter but fitting compliment to The Education of Henry Adams published 17 years later.
