G (Ex-library, with usual library markings, bookplate on front inside cover, pocket and discoloration at back inside cover, perforation stamp used on illus., pages are beginning to show a bit of age and are worn at bottom edge, binding is tight and well-sewn.). Green cloth with gilt lettering on top cover and spine, 306 pp., 28 BW plates. William Mason (1829-1908) was an American composer. After his training at the Boston Academy of Music, he traveled to Europe. There he met a number of key composers and spent a period of time with Franz Liszt in Weimar. Many of the illustrations in this book are autographs of the people Mason met in Europe.
