Includes profiles of his father Thomas Stevenson and other acquaintances, as well as his musings on a variety of topics. With tissue-guarded frontis portrait of RLS from a sketch by J. W. Alexander. Also with 12 plates bearing black & white images of people and scenes mentioned in the book. --- In maroon cloth-covered boards with elaborate gilt-stamped spine & cover decorations and titling; TEG (top edge gilt) and sewn-in red satin placemarker. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- With prior owner's signature to front free endpaper and to title page, slight sunning to spine, otherwise an excellent copy: tightly-bound, clean and sturdy.; 16mo (6 to 7 in. tall); xiii, 271 pages .
