Sobre este artículo

London: Methuen & Co., c. 1909. Cover and spine faded, otherwise in very good condition. . Edition: First Edition., Binding: Original publisher’s red cloth with gilt title on cover and gilt text on spine. Front and bottom edges uncut. , Notes: Frank Podmore (1856–1910) was a prolific author on psychical research. As an undergraduate Podmore became interested in spiritualism and he joined the British National Association of Spiritualists. Eventually disillusioned by that society, Podmore co-founded several organisations: the Progressive Association; the Fellowship of the New Life; and, spurred by his desire to see political change, the Fabian Society. He spent the next twenty years investigating and writing on psychical phenomena. A history driven by interests in psychical research, this book traces Victorian spiritualist movements from origins in the work of the eighteenth-century Austrian physician Friedrich Mesmer. Starting from Mesmer's Animal Magnetism, Podmore discusses spiritualism, theosophy, and Christian Science, and provides a biography of important individuals in these movements. There is a bookplate on the verso of the top cover from the Fraser Institute Free Public Library in Montreal saying that this book was presented by Dr. R.E. Powell in 1937., Size: 8vo (221x140mm). , Category: Book Medical; Book History; Book Religious Christianity
