Podmore provides in depth historical narrative of the tradition of mental faith healing. He follows French developments from Mesmer, through the French Commissions and into England and Germany in great detail, as the shift into the predominance of prophecy, revelation and spiritualism culminate in the work of Mary Baker Eddy.
