Includes correspondence between Gov. Claiborne of Louisiana and Gov. Folch, presumably the Spanish governor of Florida; Gen. Wilkinson and Gen. Dearborn, Secretary of War, and other government officials. The issues uder discussion include concerns over the alliance of various Indian tribes and the settlement of trade and territorial issues between the Spanish territories of Florida and the newly established state of Louisiana. Campbell, a strong supporter of Jefferson, was serving the first of 3 consecutive terms in the House at this time, representing Tennessee.
