New York: Scribner, Armstrong & Company, 1877. First. Hardcover . Used - near very good. 8vo; 377pp. <b>First American Edition</b>. , 2 maps, 6pp. ads. Very slight spine lean, one signature sprung but still held to textblock with one cord. Owner name, in early cursive hand, front pastedown. There is NO foxing, however, many pages have some soiling where one would turn a page. Covers lightly rubbed, a great deal more so to the extremities, the boards showing through at the corners. Happily, the spine is less affected, with extremely light rubbing to head and just a little loss to tail. There is virtually no fade or darkening to the spine, just light rubbing, so that the decoration and lettering is still rather fresh (equally fresh as the front and rear panels). Book is now protected in a removable mylar cover.
