The hinges were cracked, but have been repaired. Owner's name stamp on title page and first main page. Light tanning and foxing on and around the plates; otherwise, text clean and all pages fully attached. Photoplay edition of Verne's novel about tsarist Russia. Illustrated with 6 stills from the 1926 silent film from Universal Film de France, starring Ivan Mozzhukhin and directed by Viktor Tourjansky. This edition is undated, but appears to be from around the time of the film's release, or not long thereafter.
Sinopsis
Michael Strogoff: The Courier of the Czar is a novel written by Jules Verne in 1876. Critics consider it one of Verne's best books. Unlike some of Verne's other famous novels, it is not science fiction, but a scientific phenomenon is a plot device. The book was later adapted to a play, by Verne himself and Adolphe D'Ennery. Incidental music to the play was written by Jules Massenet in 1880. The book has been adapted several times for films and cartoon series.
