Sobre este artículo

Paris: Bibliotheque d'Education et de Recreation, c1900 . Leather. Very Good. 11.5" by 8". J. Ferat, Ch. Barbant. The thrilling fourtheenth installation in Jules Verne's 'Voyages Extraordinaire', often considered one of his best works. Illustrated throughout by J. Ferat. Unlike much of Verne's writing, this work adopts the Leidenfrost effect, a scientific phenomenon, as its subject rather than being science fiction. It follows Michel Strogoff, a courier for Tsar Alexander II of Russia on an exciting adventure across Siberia and Russia.Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a French novelist best known for his thrilling adventure series, 'Voyages Extraordinaires'. This included works such as 'Journey to the Center of the Earth', 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas', 'Around the World in Eighty Days', 'Around the Moon', 'The Mysterious Island', and 'The Vanished Diamond'.A new edition. In the original French language.Undated; dated from the publisher's advertisements at the rear. With illustrations by Jules-Descartes Ferat, who also illustrated a number of other works by Verne as well as for Victor Hugo and Edgar Allan Poe. Engraved by Charles Barbant.Containing nine plates in colour, two maps and some eighty-six vignette illustrations in the text. Collated.A delightful example of this excellent Verne novel. In a quarter morocco binding with cloth boards. Externally generally smart, with some slight rubbing to the leather, bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, binding is strained and exposed after the title page but otherwise firm. Pages have the occasional mark and spot, but are otherwise bright. Very Good

Sinopsis

Michael Strogoff: The Courier of the Czar is a novel written by Jules Verne in 1876. Critics consider it one of Verne's best books. Unlike some of Verne's other famous novels, it is not science fiction, but a scientific phenomenon is a plot device. The book was later adapted to a play, by Verne himself and Adolphe D'Ennery. Incidental music to the play was written by Jules Massenet in 1880. The book has been adapted several times for films and cartoon series.
