Sobre este artículo

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1926. Two vols. Thick 8vo. lxx, [2], 400; [4], 401-868 pp. Photo frontisps. both vols., over 100 photos, graphs, tables. Uniformly bound in original blue publisher’s cloth, gilt design on front cover, gilt lettering on spine (minor rubbing to spine, very faint tidemark to lower fore-edge of textblock vol. II, slight offset toning at gutter margins), still a VG- set, signed by Ramsaye and Thomas Edison, preserved in blue cloth open-backed slipcase, w/ red & gilt spine label. First edition, one of only 327 copies signed by Thomas Edison, and Ramsaye detailing the history of Motion Pictures, and movie projection equipment. Much of the work is devoted to Edison’s kinetograph camera, and the kinetoscope, the development of the motion picture camera, and television, as well as the rotating studio he designed for movie production in West Orange, NJ. Ramsaye incorporates significant sections to such photographic and movie pioneers as Muybridge, Edwi Porter, Melies, D.W. Griffith, as well as David O. Selznick, and Charlie Chaplin. Ramsaye (1885-1954), worked for the Mutual Film Corp., was Chaplin’s producer for a number of his Silent Shorts, launched the newsreel Kinograms, later became the editor-in-chief of Pathe News and Pathe Audio Review.
