Near fine in a very good dust jacket with some of the usual rubbing to the extremities. On the Mines documents the failing gold mines of South Africa in the mid-sixties. The book features an essay on the human and political dimensions of mining in South Africa by Nobel laureate Nadine Gordimer, whose writing has long influenced Goldblatt.
