This is an inscribed, antique set of "The Ministry of Taunton (Massachusetts)" - With the Incidental Notices of Other Professions by Samuel Hopkins Emery (Pastor of one of its Churches). 1853 1st edition; John P. Jewett & Co.; Boston. Complete set in two volumes. Volume I contains an inscription by the author in pen on the front end paper, as follows: "Rev. Martyn Cushman, Presented by the Author Rev. S.H. Emery, Taunton 1854." Each volume features an engraved frontispiece portrait and other engravings (with tissue guards), and facsimile documents. At the back of volume II is a list of "Autographs" (with facsimile signatures), "Lithographs," an "Index of Subjects", an "Index of Names," a "List of Subscribers," and a "Chapter of Errata."
Condition:
Clean covers and spines; the top edge of the vol I spine is worn with pieces missing; small cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spines. Small cloth tears at the cover corners. Both volumes are tightly bound with no loose pages. Occasional foxing to the pages. Volume I is inscribed by the author in pen, dated 1854. Overall the set is in Good+ condition.
