Jonathan Cape, 1955. Hardback. Good. First limited edition hardback (number 1,448 of 2,000 copies), 1955, with slip case and no jacket as issued. Ex library book, only a couple of the usual stamps and labels, no pages removed. In overall good used condition with minor signs of age, handling and storage - slip-case darkened and worn to edges; blue cloth boards, with contrasting leather spine, lightly rubbed to edges. Internally clean. Binding tight and appears little read; no annotations or inscriptions; gilt upper-edge to page-block retains lustre, text and decorated end-papers bright and clear throughout.
