New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1944. Hardcover. 12mo. Tan paper over boards with blue lettering, pictorial dust jacket. xi, 229pp. Good plus/good plus. Ex-lending library, which means that front and rear endpapers bear marks where jacket was formerly affixed; and attractive, lightly-worn jacket trimmed ¼" off top and bottom edges from the thankfully-long-gone black-bordered dust jacket protector such agencies employed. A tight and decent first edition of this "Judge Peck Mystery" set in small town Wisconsin. Despite duly noted flaws a serviceable first with delightful front jacket panel graphics.
