Paris: Pierre Simon, 1739. Hardcover. Very Good. 74, 392, ccxv, [5] p.; 17 cm. Signatures: a-c12 d2(-d2) A-Q12 R4 a-i12 k2 (24mo). Contemporary dark green ribbed morocco with six spine compartments between raised bands. Gilt-tooled spine title and volume number in second and third compartments. Gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments; gilt-tooled leaf and tendril border on both boards with gilt-tooled center decoration, possibly initials. Gilt-tooled board edges and turn-ins. All page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Three ribbon bookmarks. Woodcut head- and tailpieces and initials. Printed in parallel columns of French and Latin. Undated French inscription on blank leaf following front free endpaper referring to Jeanne Durant of Clermont-l'Hérault. In Very Good Condition: leather is rubbed, most heavily at corners of back board; occasional foxing, heaviest in first 74 pages; otherwise clean and tight.
