Variant vignette to title page depicting burning of St. Pauls (by W. Hollar and dated 1666). Lacking the two plates and front endpaper, chipping to outside margin of first leaf. Title page has stain to outside edge and old inked initials to verso. ESTC: R9180. Overall condition is Very Good. Size: 5 x 7.5 inches (12.5 x 19 cm). Hardback. Printed pages: 8vo. This book is in very good condition. There is little to no wear on the front, back and spine of the cover boards and there is no wear on the edges of the cover boards.There is some bumping on the cover boards. The previous owners name is written on the front end page. The pages are white, crisp and claen of any markings. It seeks more electors to add their names to the "Protestant Roll", being a pledge to "put his Protestantism before mere Party questions at the Polling Booth."
The Church Association was an English evangelical Anglican organisation founded in 1865. It was particularly active in opposition to Anglo-Catholicism, ritualism, and the Oxford Movement. Founded in 1865 by Richard P. Blakeney, the association stated in its first annual report that the objectives of the association were, "To uphold the principles and order of the United Church of England and Ireland, and to counteract the efforts now being made to assimilate her services to those of the Church of Rome."
