Sobre este artículo

Lincoln, NE: Nebraska State Historical Society, 1972. 1st Ed. Hardbound. 8vo. 472 Pgs.. Nr Fine in Chipped & Taped DJ/Good. From the Missouri to the Great Salt Lake: An Account of Overland Freighting by William E Lass. Published by Nebraska State Historical Society, Lincoln, NE, 1972. 1st Edition. Paper DJ. Size 8vo (up to 9-1/2'' tall). Condition: Nr Fine in Chipped & Taped DJ. 312 Pgs. LCCN 75-183071. Nebraska State Historical Society Publications Volume XXVI. One of the most unique and fascinating stories in the entire history of the American frontier. When onrushing traders, gold seekers, and settlers leapfrogged the Great plains, they forced the development of long-haul wagon transportation from ports on the navigable Missouri River to the mountains hundreds of miles beyond. Overland transportation on the plains reached its fullest development during the two decades preceding the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. For nearly half a century after the beginning of the Santa Fe trade, freighters braved the harsh land, the challenging distances, and the sometimes hostile Indians to deliver the goods that sustained the vanguard of the frontier. Illustrated with black and white photos and maps. Description text copyright 2017 BooksForComfort. Item ID 31819.
