The Modern Era of Universalism, From the Era of the Reformation to the Present Time, Boston: self-published, 1830. 12mo, first edition, pp. [ii], 458, 1 (errata), 3 (ads), full calf with gilt-stamped rules and lettering in morocco label on spine. See Sabin 103799. In addition to his duties as pastor, Whittemore (1800-61) was a Massachusetts legislator who led the movement to end state favoritism for the Congregationalists (descendants of the Puritans). Condition of this book: Boards worn with a few surface scratches, upper joint cracked. Leaves clean and tight, moderate foxing, overall good and sound. Size: 12mo. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
