___DESCRIPTION: Bound in red cloth with a blind-debossed ruled border to the front board, title in gilt on the front board, gilt lettering on the spine, frontispiece reproduction of a photograph of "H.R.H. The Prince of Wales on 'Alouette'.", replete with black-and-white reproductions of photographs and with line drawings throughout; octavo size (8 3/4" by 6"), pagination: [i-vi] vii-xvi, [1] 2-492. In grey dust jacket with navy blue lettering and ruled borders, short bio of author on the front panel, original price of "21/- net" on the spine, publisher's ads on the back panel and back flap, front flap blank.
___CONDITION: Volume is near fine, the red cloth binding clean and without wear, the gilt on the front and spine bright and unrubbed, a strong text block with solid hinges, straight corners without rubbing, the interior is clean and bright, and the only prior markings we see are a vintage bookseller code and price in pencil on the rear pastedown; a bit of bumping to head and tail of spine and the text block very slightly cocked, else fine. The unclipped dust jacket is a bit better than good, all components present and attached; some evidence of old dampstaining on the spine and front panel, sunning to the spine, with light overall wear mostly at the head of the spine with minor loss particularly at the front top joint (not affecting the text), and the verso with some colour transfer at spine.
