Sobre este artículo
Viking Adult, 1995. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Inscribed on the front free endpaper in the year of publication: "5/2/95, To Jo--Thanks to an [eligible] reader--Gregg Easterbrook." An important and controversial tome that argued in 1995 that environmental trends were turning in a more positive direction, but clearly a view that was perhaps prematurely sanguine. Easterbrook was at the time undecided about climate change, but in 2006 agreed it had anthropogenic origins and a destructive trajectory. Paul Ehrlich among others criticized this book, but it was praised by others like Michael Specter. Fine book (and a hefty one) in a near fine jacket with a little rubbing. // Wood (+) River (=) Books specializes in nature writing and environmental literature, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions.

Sobre Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
