Leipzig: Chr. Herm. Tachnitz, 1903. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Alfred Heubach. A perfectly serviceable set of 59 of 60 finely drawn black-and-white illustrations of monumental architectural forms. Housed in a moderately battered exterior but with a remarkably attractive set of 59 plates interior. Illustrated paper over boards measuring 15 3/4" by 12" tall and wide, the plates 1/4" smaller, respectively. Red linen cloth-backed portfolio, moderate soiling and rubbing to edges, tips, cellophane tape of an accession number at spine bottom. Internally, one of the three wings to the bound-in wing folder is missing, the remaining two present but rubbed and scuffed. Nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy plates interior. Published in Leipzig in 1903. 59 of 60 collotype plates, with explanatory texts, all in German, depicting architectural projects in Germany, Austria and Switzerland from the 13th to 18th centuries. The initial double-elephant folio-sized leaf (stiff card stock) is folded once, with elaborate German lettering to title page, complete with publisher's device, then verso is a Dedication to the author's mentor in architecture, Herr Professor Gabriel von Seidl, in Munchen, Germany. Foreword by the author follows, from Hannover, Oktober, 1903, with Table of illustrations recto of inside page. Then 18 pp. of introduction and extensive notes to each of the 59 of the 60 plates (missing Tafeln #5), quite fine, and in double-column.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
