Sobre este artículo
Philadelphia: Lea Brothers & Co., 1901. First edition. Hardcover. vg. Octavo. XII, 463, [1]pp. Original cloth with gold lettering and printer's device on spine. Fascinating work in which Henry Charles Lea examines the expulsion of the Moriscos and what he believes to be the cause. A Morisco was a converted Christian inhabitant of Spain and Portugal of Muslim heritage. Over time the term was used in a pejorative sense applied to those nominal Catholics who were suspected of secretly practicing Islam. At the time of Henry Charles Lea, it seems the common consensus was that the expulsion of the Moriscos was a religious ordeal when it actually was more political and a result of and enduring national policy. Minor age wear on binding with upper edge of front cover partly dented. Previous owner's name on fly leaf. Binding in overall good to good+, interior in very good to near fine condition.
