Sobre este artículo

New York: Duell, Sloan & Pearce. Very Good in Good dust jacket. 1942. First Edition; Second Printing. Hardcover. Stated second printing. Inscribed by Stegner on the front free endpaper to "Barbara Gregg," dated 1946. Inscription partially overlaps with map design, but it is still legible. Light blue cloth boards with gilt lettering over black on spine. Light toning to spine and edges of boards; minor rubbing to edges; mild soiling and staining. Very light foxing to top edge of text block. Blue illustrated dust jacket with red and white lettering on cover and spine. Jacket is wrapped in mylar and corners of flaps are clipped, but original price is still visible. Moderate chipping to edges, which has been repaired with clear tape; slight fading to spine; mild soiling. Tight binding and clean interior. Part of the American Folkways series, edited by Erskine Caldwell. Wallace Stegner (1909-1993) , often referred to as "the Dean of Western Writers," was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, historian, and environmentalist who taught writing for over 40 years at various institutions, most notably Stanford University. This is his first nonfiction book, which tells the story of a region and a culture that he knew well. According to the jacket, "The story of the Mormons is one of the labor and self-sacrifice that was spent in search of an ideal - always against the rugged, inhospitable, colorful background of the American West." ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 362 pp; Signed by Author .
