Glassine between the pages with opposite plates. Original gray cloth binding. The book is INSCRIBED on the title page: "12 . VI . 81 / To Jonathan [Goldberg], On his birthday, with Love, Ruth + Michael." At the time of the inscription, Jonathan Goldberg was the Sir William Osler Professor of English Literature at Johns Hopkins University, and Fried was the J.R. Herbert Boone Professor of Humanities at Hopkins. A beautiful, uncommon association copy between two very noted scholars. This is a tight, fine book in a bright, fine DJ.. Inscribed by Author(s). Hardcover. Fine/Dust Jacket Included.
