Sobre este artículo

New York City, NY: Doubleday, 1999. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. Fine/Fine Dust Jacket.. New York City, NY: Doubleday, 1999. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First Edition/First Printing. 311 pages. Rare Jonathan Lethem collectible set. Fine copies of "Motherless Brooklyn" and a 6 X 4 inch vintage color photographic print of the author, both signed by Jonathan Lethem. The author's breakthrough fifth novel. One of the most important American novels of our time. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. Presents Jonathan Lethem's "Motherless Brooklyn". His best book since his debut, "Gun, With Occasional Music" (1994) . In Lionel Essrog, Lethem created one of the most memorable characters of contemporary American fiction, the "Human Freakshow", afflicted with Tourette's Syndrome. "The best novel of the year. Utterly original and deeply moving" (Esquire Magazine) . The basis of the fine - and underrated - film adaptation by Edward Norton, director and actor. Comes with a lovely vintage portrait of the twenty-something Jonathan Lethem posing in front of a remarkable announcement of the Appearance/Event devoted to him. An absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, set for Jonathan Lethem collectors. This copy of "Motherless Brooklyn" is very boldly and beautifully signed in black ink-pen on the title page by Jonathan Lethem. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. His signature is vintage and fills up the page. This comes with a lovely 6 X 4 inch vintage color photographic print of the author, also very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen-marker in front by Jonathan Lethem. This title is a great book. As far as we know, this is the only such signed set of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing and vintage photographic print available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Copies of the book available online have serious flaws or are in innumerable subsequent printings. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed set thus. Winner of the Crawford Award for Best Fantasy Novel and the Locus Award for Best First Novel in 1994 for "Gun, With Occasional Music". Winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1999 for "Motherless Brooklyn". Selected as one of the "Best Books of The Year" by the New York Times in 2003 for "Fortress of Solitude". Winner of the MacArthur Genius Grant in 2005. One of the most brilliant new voices in American literature. A fine collectible set. (SEE ALSO OTHER JONATHAN LETHEM TITLES IN OUR CATALOG).
