Book #4 (of 22 total) in the popular boy's series from the early 20th century featuring the adventures on land, sea, & air of 3 well-to-do young men. Under the pseudonym, "Clarence Young,'' author Howard Garis made his debut writing for the Stratemeyer Syndicate (his wife, Lillian, would assist on some of the books in the corresponding "Motor Girl" series). Orig. published in 1907, this is a slightly later printing (listing to Book #9 in front matter). Hardcover 12mo bound in green cloth with stamped & colored design to front, in 248 pages with 1 ad for other books is this series in rear, glossy frontis + 2 glossy internals (both of which are present, but completely detached). Condition is Good: generally very clean, binding secure, though rear hinge is cracked. Pages moderately tanned, heavier around edges, commensurate with age. Former owner's name & date (1911) in pen to ffep; NO other writing/underlining/highlighting; not ex-lib. NO DJ (missing).
