Brown cloth, clean pages, plates and maps, in a very good-plus dustjacket, not price-clipped, slightly chipped at spine ends and corners, some paling around the spine, a small ink name under the front flap, with an ink presentation on the fep reading 'To Miss Leggat/ with very best wishes from the publishers'. This fifth Everest Expedition, led by Bill Tilman, with Eric Shipton among others in the party, climbed over 27,000 feet, higher than any previous attempt, only being thwarted by a snowfall from reaching the top.
