The beige covers are also in very good condition, with just a bit of wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket shows light wear, particularly at the top and bottom of the spine. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. Synopsis: " Historical fiction, set in the Canadian west. "This is the story of Morton Currie's first year with the famous North-West mounted Police - the year 1887-1888. Mort was nineteen and although he had a wonderful horse of his own on his father's farm in Saskatchewan, he begged permission to train the wildest horse in the Regina barracks' stable, a spirited thoroughbred called The Sheik. He succeeded so well that, when he set out on his first lone patrol, he rode proudly out on The Sheik, and with the help of an old friend, Little Bear, as his Indian scout, he broke the ring of cattle rustlers that was cheating both Indians and white settlers.
