Appears to have been bound at some point (leather and gilt on spine) but boards are now absent. First and last signatures loose but included, pages a bit toned, faint discoloration along fore edge margin. 1705 Disbound. [viii], 113, [1] pp. A commentary on Thomas Hobbes's Leviathan first published in 1672, with corrections made by the author. John Bowle (Hobbes and His Critics, London 1951) calls the Dialogues "one of the most effective of all the [contemporary] attacks on Hobbes." Eachard was primarily known as a satirist and was praised by John Dryden and used as a source by Lord Macaulay for his History of England, though Jonathan Swift pointed out that his serious writings were no better than the ones he ridiculed. He is also a 2011 graduate of the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS).
