First Edition (first printing) - this copy signed by the author on the title page. 8vo. 304pp. Blue boards lettered in gold at the spine. Spine ends and corner tips lightly rubbed, and with a single tiny indentation to the head of the upper board. A touch of light uneven browning to the endpapers and pastedowns. A very crisp copy in price-clipped dust wrapper, with some minor dust soiling, a small splash of staining, and some rubbing and fraying to the spine ends and corner tips. The wrapper in internally reinforced with masking tape. Inkstamp of literary agency R.Harben to the front free endpaper. The author's fifth novel, and his first Booker Prize-shortlisted effort. Supplied together with an uncorrected proof copy of the first edition, in the publisher's yellow card wrappers. The edges and the fore edge margin of two or three preliminary leaves lightly spotted.
