This collaboration by the troubled siblings Charles (1775-1834) and Mary (1764-1847) Lamb, was first published in 1809, two years after their most famous book, "Tales from Shakespeare." Appeariong anaonymously, it is a series of stories aboutten girl students. This is a Very Good (minus) copy of the First American Edition (stated). Very scarce; Quercus finds only one institutional holding, at Cambridge; none listed with WorldCat. Full leather binding of smooth calf; seven gilt rules on the spine; red label with title. Clean text; 165 pages. Some floodmarks, mainly affecting the endpapers; spotting throughout, although text remains clear and readable. Corners are bumped but the binding remains firm and suffers none of the cracking so often seen in books of this age.
