Sometime prior to 1976, Mrs. Krenrich's husband was asked to write a series of articles pertaining to the history of Walloon Lake. After his death, Mrs. Krenrich wanted to see his work completed. This book is the result.

In her book, the author has brought to life times, faces and places that date back to the mid 1800s. It is generously illustrated with photographs depicting the past and offers a fascinating and sometimes bemusing mixture of fact and folklore about the lake that the Indians long ago called Muhqua Nebis. Translated, the name means Bear Lake.

The book covers sailing, fishing, long-gone lodges and camps, logging trails, iron rails, social gatherings, and changes through time.
