London: Flamingo, 2002. First edition. Hardback. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 9.5" by 6.5". None. An excellent signed first edition of Philip Hensher's historical novel. This signed first edition of celebrated novelist and journalist Philip Hensher's 'The Mulberry Empire' was longlisted for the Booker Prize, and tells the epic story of the British Empire's defeat in Afghanistan, travelling from London to Calcutta, St Petersburg to Kabul, and exploring the individual lives tangled in the triumph of the Afghans. Hensher is frequently listed amongst the most influential LGBT people in Britain, and was selected as one of Granta's Twenty Best of Young British Novelists in 2003. First edition, in unclipped dustwrapper. Signed by the author to the title page. Epic in proportion and originality, Hensher's 'The Mulberry Empire' is an awe-inspiring exploration of empires, dreams and chance. In the publisher's original binding, with unclipped dustwrapper showing £17.99 price. Externally, very smart. The dustwrapper is very smart, with only some shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
