Many historians have seen this as a shameful betrayal of Czechoslovakia, while others argue that by 'sacrificing' the Czechs, Chamberlain bought valuable time for Britain to re-arm. In this volume, the author threads his way through the preceding history of Germany, Czechoslovakia and above all the strained relations between Britain and France in the 1930s.
