Front fold also lightly chipped and with modest chipping to bottom of spine panel. Publisher's bookplate, signed by both the author and illustrator Lee Brown Coye affixed to front free endpaper. Most presentable in its fresh mylar.

Inscribed by Cave to the front flyleaf: 'Very specially for Jacky/withvery special love/Hugh B. Cave'. Book is in lovely shape: clean, unmarked interior and tight, square spine. Only very gentlest of shelf-wear to book and jacket, as well as some very subtle foxing to the edges. Beautifully designed book with red metallic gilt to spine and eye-popping B&W illustrations by the fantastic Coye. 475 pp. Fiction.
