(London: G. Bell and Sons, 1928). 8vo; original green cloth, lettered in gilt on spine and upper cover; pp. xii + 267 + (iii); frontis. portrait. Cloth a bit rubbed; moderate foxing throughout. Good condition. "Alexander Alekhin was born in Moscow on the 1st November, 1892. ... In his earliest days he showed aptitude for Chess and, when only sixteen, won the first prize in the Russian Amateur Chess Tournament held concurrently with the great St. Petersburg Tournament of 1909, and from that time became entitled to the rank of Master. His rapid rise to fame as a Chess player since the War is well known and with over twenty international Tournaments and the world's record for Blindfold Chess to his credit, he set the seal on his career by winning the World's Championship from Señor Capablanca, in 1927." .
