Sturdy board book with full-page color ill. guaranteed to delight children, although this volume doesn't have any of the marks little fingers usually leave--its one flaw is a missing finger at base of green-plastic spiral spine, which could easily have been the work of a klutzy adult; not ex-lib., no former owner's name or bookplate; 10 sides: the first showing 1 butterfly against a yellow flower; the second 2 tiny turtles; then 3 vintage dolls; followed by 4 yellow lemons; 5 replicas of period cars (including VW Beetle); then 6 brass buttons on red sweater worn by wistful little boy; then 7 antique silver tea spoons; 8 birthday candles on a chocolate cake; 9 wooden alphabet blocks, their numbers carved and painted a primary color; and 10 cookies of different varieties spread out on a plate. On back board is photo of toy soldiers arranged in "combat"-- six are in blue 18th c. blue American War for Independence costume and the others are "redcoats." Front board shows train pull-toy, a simple locomotive with five cars.
